Searching for the Inland Sea

Well folks, the new album’s nearly complete and here at the Gates of Hell we’re chucking Cerberus the odd Eagles fan and waiting patiently. Meanwhile Uncle Burnin’ Love’s been off on tour with Nunbait, his Eighties grunge outfit that opened for Nirvana on their first Australian tour, scored for Kurt, toured with Mudhoney and Tumbleweed, and are now opening for the Hard-Ons in Sydney. Tom Jones is back in Darwin when he’s not touring with Leah Flanagan, his boss and lover and Al ‘Frisky’ Fisk is in Sydney playing with big chunks of metal. I’m up in Tuckombil on the Coast, working my arse off at Uni, studying internet marketing and how to get viral. So far we’ve all convened only a few times this year to play Tamworth, Yackandandah Folk festival, the Cool Summer Festival in Mount Hotham and The Retreat. In May, June and July however, Jones is flying down to play a bunch of album launches. Otherwise his place on bass is being taken by Darren ‘Sideshow’ Bridge’, impresario and the man credited with singlehandedly attempting to revive Lismore’s dismal live scene. We’re pretty happy with the album – Christian Pyle has laboured long over it and it oughta be a beauty. It’s to be called INLAND SEA, have 13 tracks on it, and having taken 3 years to do, is breathlessly awaited.

See yers out on the road – Mick Daley
